Hi Joe Im Plumber down in south west Florida and as you know they have been using these systems for years now. I have been seeing problems lately. My question to you is what systems do you currently use?

In a single family home you're not going get 1000 PSI

Moral of the story - NEVER use Zurn pipe anywhere in the Country where it freezes. If you go on vacation over winter and the furnace fails, you will end up with a soaking wet mess.

You need to re-do this video. The information is priceless, but confusing. I’ve listened to it several time and compared to the transcript. You confuse Pex-A vs Pex-B several times. You also mix up Uponor, Zurn, and Wirsbo - thus presenting contradicting information more times than I care to count. A+ for effort, but the result is a confusing mess of jumbled info.

Its quite obvious this guy knows very little about the availability of the pex pipe brand he advocates that people use in their homes.

what about copper crimp rings on stainless steel fittings?

As with all polymers, as they are undergoing their natural degassing, they become more susceptible to degradation. Maybe if the world begs BASF enough, they can formulate a polymer that will remain stable in almost any environment over a longer period of time?

I have a feeling that this piping was exposed to excessive UV and degraded. People forget that PEX is not to be stored in sunlight or exposed continuously.

I want to know where to get genuine Zurn pex B pipe online?

My house in on well, 5 year old pex. all white. plumber uses electrical tape to mark the lines here and there.

Please explain, Uponor pex-a has been in used in Europe since the 1980's and most of europe uses chlorine in their water.

It's ridiculous that you just claim its the same pipe without doing a shred of research on design specs or material analysis. No testing, nothing. You're making baseless claims.

Pex A is expansion pipe. Pex b is crimp only.

How about using PE-RT?

I have a friend who converted a PEX crimp tool into a PEX press tool by carefully filing off the end of the tool. Does anyone know of a video of somebody doing this? I asked my friend to share with me how he did it but he's not reliable on replying back in a timely manner.

Will chloramine cause the same issue to PEX B, or is PEX B more resilient to the chemicals in the water than PEX A?..... Never mind, I just watched the last minute of the video and got my answer, lol lol.

I made the mistake of doing a drywall job recently with ultralight sheetrock (never again), and it was full of big voids between the paper. Everything is junk now

How do you know the old vs new is exactly the same and they only changed the label? What are you basing this on?

Thanks for sharing this info Joe. I'm about to start construction on a new large home for a client. He prefers that I use copper. Cost is not an issue, but everyone is telling me to use Pex. And it would be much easier - especially since this is rammed earth construction (24" solid exterior and 14" solid interior walls) and running pipe either in the ceiling and down a larger PVC tube in the walls or PVC pipe with Pex fed thru those larger pipes. Copper would be much more difficult, obviously.

Is PE-RT pipe better and longer lasting?

Why take a chance! Stick with the tested and true. Rainwater and grain alcohol.

I bought my clear pex a pipe at my local plumbing store. It was the 3/4 ". . It seemed very stiff- it didn't flex enough to make connection between two "pipes" 18". I did get it to fit and made a secure leak free connection. Next time I will use a swivel NPT fitting. SO MY QUESTION IS _IS ANY BRAND NORE FLEXIBLE THAN ANOTHER? the 1/2 " PEX A seems very flexible . I did use a heat gun -didn't help. "homeowner - no plumber available"

Where can you buy them setups!?

I appreciate your vids and insight, but I think it’s odd to assume the new clear pipe will fail in the same manner the old did. If they’re having a liability nightmare why would they just change the color and nothing with the process/material? You claim they fail from break point chlorination, but do you have any lab reports indicating this is the most likely cause of failure? Any fracture or chemical analysis performed? Did uponor say it was break point chlorination? With all due respect, I think they’re going to be the closest to knowing actual root cause of failure being they’re paying claims left and right for this failure. Would love if you could share those in a video. Companies are incentivized to create robust products, or liability/claims/brand image will lead to bankruptcy. All the best

I bought my home in 1986. It already had been repiped with CPVC and across my attic partly. I live in north Florida. That pipe is still up there. I have never had an issue with it. I think I’ll just leave it alone.

Only a problem with harsh water left sitting in pipes then used immediately unfiltered. People in major cities with good water quality that use their water often, especially if they use something like a water filter before drinking it, won't have a problem with this. We know this because copper pipe is ubiquitous and copper poisoning is not. Furthermore, it's normal to have trace amounts of copper in our diet so our bodies have mechanisms for handling it, unlike microplastics that we recently needed to deal with.

Zurn is too "unreasonable" and restrictive in only warranting their pipe/products if installed by a professional.

A confusing video, at best. You spent 5 minutes cutting up pieces of pipe and holding them up to the camera before giving us a clue as to what your point was. Are you saying that this only applies to Uponor pipe? Only old Uponor pipe? Other brands of pipe? You like Zurn PEX B, what about other brands of A and B? I have a water well. Does that mean I'm in the clear since my water is not chlorinated?
